Description
The Gao_Tmn system is named after the first author of the first paper describing it (N/A) and contains the description of the gene identified: a transmembrane NTPase.
Tmn is a KAP NTPase, characterized by the presence of two transmembrane helices, a P-loop NTPase domain oriented towards the intracellular side, and a short periplasmic segment (N/A) .
Molecular mechanisms
As far as we are aware, the exact molecular mechanism is unknown. Gao-tmn can function independently or in synergy with other defense systems containing ATPase domains, such as Gabija or Septu I (N/A) . In these synergies, Gao-tmn seems to amplify ATPase signalling, resulting in a faster and stronger defense response.
